The Prayer Shawl/Knitting Group Ministry at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish consists of people who knit or crochet prayer shawls and baby blankets. We gather on a regular basis - to pray, to knit, and to bond - in the church hall. All knitters and crocheters are welcomed to join us.
We meet on the 1st Thursday of the month from 9:30 - 11:00 am (enter front of the church).
The shawls are given to people for comfort as they are healing from surgery or an illness - for comfort while they are grieving the loss of a loved one - for comfort while dealing with a serious illness - for comfort as a loved one is being deployed in the military - for comfort for someone who is alone - or for comfort during life's hard times.
Shawls may also be used for milestone anniversasries, birthdays, weddings, or when someone is moving far away, or is facing a new adventure. Shawls are just meant to be a HUG FROM GOD through us within the warmth and caring of the shawl.
A shawl request may be made by anyone for anyone. Please call the rectory if you are in need of a prayer shawl to give to someone.
Please know that donations of yarn - or donations to buy yarn - are greatly appreciated and accepted. The shawls are, of course, free of charge!
If you like to knit or crochet or want to learn and would like to join, please feel free to join us.
